Had a stressful day at the day job. Staring at bead stash when I got home, randomly thinking of what to do. Flipped through some of my beading reference material.... saw some interesting ideas on how to use Miyuki Tilas, but I just got those and I'd like to make some headway on turning my stash into pretty and potentially useful objects of art. So, no, not using Tilas.... and then I see this project that uses St Petersburd stitch, where the thread path is printed out in a cross-section diagram.. and it's like a bell goes ding in my head. Of course. St Petersburg stitch even has that obligatory turn around that would go very nicely for threading on daggers.

Out comes the bead mat, the seed beads, the needles, the size D nymo in neutral colours, the scissors... the several packets of daggers waiting for a good idea. Off to bead something interesting!

Spend the productive after lunch hours you were going to use on work.... looking at the options for setting up an online store to sell your own handcrafts... as inspired by many comments by people, who you've made jewelry for recently, that maybe you should set up a store to sell some...

Go online, look at the US based online bead stores and their magnificent inventory. Almost decide to buy some internationally. Change Google search to bead stores in Singapore. Seriously contemplate a change of career to making pretty things and selling them for a living...

Also, long weekend. Yay!

The yearly air affliction has arrived, and in greater force than previous records. Wake up, get out of bed, feel like you can't breathe. Go back to bed at night, feel like can't breathe. Don't want to breathe, scared the air will hurt yourself.. If I could keep the windows all shut tight and run the air purifiers all the time I would... So easy to take clean air for granted, until you don't have it anymore.

Plotting lessons is actually surprisingly fun. Provided, that is, one is looking forward to the lessons and students involved....

Have started playing Assassin's Creed Project Legacy on Facebook. Am currently faintly irritated by the way the Ubisoft server connection seems to not be cooperating, and demanding that I reload the page. Often. >.

Because Katsuko said it better, and I can't quite figure out reposting at the moment.

Also: would that raising awareness about such crap would move the people who look like they're in power. Though they've all sorts of things to worry about these days. Not to downplay the importance of ACTA or anything, but problems with more basic needs like employment, housing, clean water and sewage handling, are equally valid points to lambast people about. ACTA is just icing on the cake, as it were. Or another straw fit to break the camel's back.

Oh yes, the situation could be much worse. But is it so much to ask, that it be better? The artist's frustrations are common all over. And while many people are suffering all over the world, neither are they suffering in silence. Governments don't just rule by force, they rule also by social fiat. And letting your people's lives get miserable sets said organisations up for history repeating itself in a number of ways...

Tried one set of ideas. Didn't work out, kept feeling blocked. Switched around at the end of the first week to .. a chronicle, best as I recall, of my RP in Echo Bazaar.from the very first bits - aided by the EB wiki for recall purposes - to my current progress point. 4000+ words and counting, and still no block yet. In about 2-3 days too. Much better than it was before.

Gave in and altered the save file for more money to buy a military class ship which is fast and agile enough to dodge hostile fire. Most of the time. Only downside being a small size...But how zippy a Doestovsky class ship is! As compared to the venerable starting Llama, which is not bad for a cargo ship, but not really anything you want to take into a hostile area.

I have understood something about the Vegastrike faction standing calculation in the stable 0.5 version. If a ship gets blown up by something aimed at me, it is mysteriously accounted as if I attacked it. Also if said ship does a suicidal run and misses and crashes and burns, it seems to be counted as my fault as well. Heh.

So, I'mma playing Vega Strike. And today, I learned how to run like mad from 3 different allied factions all suddenly mad at my PC for some unknown slight. Or rather, unknown kills of 4 merchant ships - somehow. Given that I don't target anything but a Luddite...

Spent at least 30 minutes at my comp, trying to run to a friendly system while the offended faction seems to get offended that I'm not dying yet, and sends heavier ships after me. Including capships and heavy ships, and their fighter contents. So, a jump into a system goes like this: Jump in. Search for hostile ships. Get target lock. Hit insystem special drive and bolt for a random jump point while dodging hostile fire. If autopilot takes too long to achieve this under fire, switch navcomp target to another jump point in mid flight, disengage auto pilot, turn it on again, and repeat until hostile ships lose target lock. Do this until perfectly lined up with jump point in straight line. Hit the accel and bolt for jump point. Repeat until reach reasonably peaceful system.

Just as soon as I find some Luddites, they're getting shot to hike as many faction ratings up as possible. And once I sort out which factions I don't mind annoying, some of those irritating attackers are getting some return fire instead.

Just spent the past half hour or so dodging attempts on my humble merchie ship, which has somehow offended the merchant faction and the factions closely aligned to them. How, I don't know, I don't shoot at anyone other than luddites who all factions despise... Possibly, there might be collisions I didn't notice in flight. Or merchies disguised as pirates who consequently got shot by me. Eh. It adds excitement, the dodging and running. And somehow making profitable runs along with it.

Job interviews, job offer letters....

Vega Strike as an itinerant trader out to make a good nest egg and to get in good with almost every faction... By way of blasting the one faction just about everyone hates.... In a dinky little starting cargo hauler whose only teeth is 4 mounted lasers and a batch of powerful but non-guided torps. A dinky cargo hauler which is regrettably slow and sluggish to respond in combat. When I have enough cash, I'm splashing it on a nice milspec fighter for those useful bounties. And pirates...

I have had an IDEA. I will build - and finish - a MEGAPROJECT in Dwarf Fortress. I'm going to try and build what I think Weisshaupt fortress looks like. In stone of the appropriate colour, and fortifications of appropriate strength. Dwarf Fortress's goblin hordes and their constant sieges should nicely substitute for darkspawn. Possibly even with the soaring arches seen in the Fade replica of Weisshaupt fortress...

So today I try to be productive, a little, and do some job searching.

And some Echo Bazaar ... with the pleasant effect of raising Dangerous.. In deadly duels with the Black Ribbon Society.. and their mysterious, deliciously intriguing leader Feducci... Also, uncovering secrets framed in Gold means my early work cultivating Bohemian contacts is paying off! Wonderful!.

And I check on the Dwarf Fortress forums, just to see what's going down.. Toady is awesome..4 bugfix versions out in over a week!

Though now the good region grass looks a bit.. hallucinogenic.. what with all the round bubble bulb...

....I suppose it makes sense in some twisted way, that I'd rather sit at home and read fic than go out, or think about finding a hypothetical job, if I graduate/don't graduate.

....why am I posting this on my dreamwidth, the evening before 2 important exams? Why am I not revising? Why am I even on the internet at all? Argh.

.....pity I don't get how to make a living out of my addictions...

between dwarf fortress , freesky online, homework and readings and a sibling trying to grasp years of music teaching in 3 months by demanding I teach him every moment the parents are around, plus all the things associated with church and all, I'm surprised I have time to breathe.
